Welcome to Art & Design

and Design Technology at Vittoria

Year 1

For DT this term we have been making a strong house for the three little pigs. Thank you to all the families who came in to help us.

Year 2

2015-2016 Art and Design and Design Technology at Vittoria Primary School

Year 1

These handmade books are inspired by our class story "Croc and Bird". We illustrated and wrote a short story about our own creatures.

Taking inspiration from the change of the seasons, we have been practising our sculpture skills using clay and paper.

Year 2

We have designed and constructed our own Great Fire of London buildings. Thank you to all the families who came into help us with our creations.

Here are some of our finished habitat dioramas. We used lots of skills to make them, including painting, collage and clay sculpture.

This term, we were lucky to be taught by Cheryl, a professional dancer from Sadler's Wells Theatre. She helped us choreograph and perform a dance about Autumn and Winter Celebrations. Can you see how we were inspired by Bonfire Night, Diwali and Eid in our dance?

Year 3

This term, we have been inspired by the collections at Islington Museum. We have created our own books with the help of our visiting artist, Ella. An exhibition of our work will be on display at Islington Museum in the summer holidays.

We now know all about the stages of the Ancient Egyptian mummification process. Our literacy and drama learning have helped us to create these gruesome comic collages.

Year 4

As part of our Benin topic, we have been inspired by African figure sculptures and the artwork of Alberto Giacometti. Here are some of our own sculptures, which we made using wire, paper and glue.

As part of our Ancient Greek Theatre project, we were taken on a backstage tour of Sadler's Wells Theatre. We even had a dance lesson in one of their studios.

After that, we created our own shadow puppets and theatre based on a Greek tragedy or comedy.

Year 5

Inspired by the three characters in our class book, "Fox", we have made costumes, choreographed and performed in our own dance production.

We have been using mono print and collagraph and impression printing to explore the surface of stars and planets.

Year 6

As part of our topic Crime and Punishment, we have explored the artwork of the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei. His references to the Chinese zodiac have inspired these clay heads that represent our personalities and beliefs.

Here are some of our Natural Disaster boxes. We have had great fun developing our woodwork and assemblage skills.

The Big Draw, October 2015- "Every Drawing Tells A Story"

A big thank you to everyone who came to our Big Draw event. The pupils and their families created a range of inspirational story drawings- so much so that we will be basing our creative writing on them after the holidays. Here are a selection...
