It's our last term together in Year 2...and in Key Stage One! Let's make it a fabulous term full of lots of fun and learning. :)
This term our Topic is Wonderful Women. This is a whole School topic with each year group looking at a different Wonderful Woman from History.
Our Wonderful Women are Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. Come and have a chat with anyone in our class if you would like to learn about either of these Wonderful Women. We will be able to tell you lots of interesting facts and explain how these women made a huge impact on our lives today.
Please make sure you are reading at home regularly, we have some really lovely new books so keep an eye out for them in your child's book bag!
Please also practise your 2, 5 and 10 times tables as often as you can :)
Hello everyone. What a strange start to the Spring Term this is.
Remote Learning is now something we are growing increasingly familiar with sadly, but let's make it as great as it can be!
The Register is compulsory and unless your child is unwell or there are other circumstances, they must be online for a Google Hangout at 9:15am each morning and 1:15pm each afternoon.
Every day on Google Classroom, there will be a Phonics Lesson, a Maths Lesson, an English Lesson and a SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) Lesson. These will be accompanied by online lessons to explain the work :)
There will also be weekly Topic lessons. Our Topic this Half Term is, Pirates! Continents, Oceans and Poles.
Ms Moore will be doing an Online ICT lesson for Year Two, every Wednesday at 1pm
Our PE coach Rob will also be doing an Online PE session for Year Two, every Wednesday at 2pm.
If you need anything, please feel free to email me at email@example.com

Here is some important information about Year 2:
We looked at some artefacts to help us learn more about the Great Fire of London.
We dressed up as if we were helping to put the fire out. We wore leather helmets and carried leather buckets and even a wooden bucket.
Did you know that in 1666, there was no Fire Brigade?
We also dressed up as Samuel Pepys. Samuel Pepys kept a diary during the fire and this has helped us to piece together what happened during those awful days.
We have been investigating different materials and finding out about their properties.
We have been thinking about which material is suitable for which object and why.
Art/English - June 2020
Year 2 are reading a story in English called Knights and Dragons, Unite! In art they have been making dragon masks.
English - May 2020
One of the tasks in the home-learning pack this fortnight was to write an alliterative minibeast poem. Here are two great examples!
Phonics - April 2020
The children have been working hard on keeping up their phonics skills. Lots of them have done brilliant writing in their exercise books at home. We have ben looking at Phase 6 and adding suffixes.
Land Art - March 2020
The children in Year two have been studying Land Art and Andy Goldsworthy.
