Year 2

Welcome to Circle Class!

Welcome to Year 2. We are looking forward to an exciting school year with your children.The year 2 teacher is Miss Efe, the teaching assistants are Miss Harris and Miss Chrystal. We look forward to getting to know you and your children as the year progresses.

Reading

Children in KS1 should be reading with an adult for at least 10 minutes a day.  Please read the book at home with your child and write a comment in the reading record.  Reading comments could be about words or pages your child read independently, whether they enjoyed the book and could talk about the pictures or story.  Reading diaries will be checked every Thursday, if you have read with your child and written in the record your child will be awarded three dojo points!

How to help your child with reading:

At Vittoria, we use Read Write Inc to teach your child how to read. Your child will be in a Read, Write Inc phonics group learning their sounds.  You can help them by practising the sounds at home.

Homework

In addition to reading with your child we would also appreciate your help with homework. Homework will be sent home every Thursday and collected every Tuesday/Wednesday. Please ensure that all homework is done. Please make sure your child brings their homework in on time, as it is beneficial to our learning at the time. In addition, please ensure your child learns their spelling list for the week as there is a weekly spelling test.

P.E

We have P.E. every Tuesday and Wednesday so please ensure that your child brings their correct kit on these days. Kit should include school P.E. t-shirt, school jumper, tracksuit bottoms or shorts and trainers.
